  • Overview

    To provide compassionate care to individuals suffering from addiction and/or mental health issues.  The NP will provide direct care to all clients served. In addition to direct client care, the NP will provide oversight and supervision to RN’s and/or LPN’s.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide NP services as part of a multi-disciplinary team
    • Complete history and physical examinations on each new client as necessary
    • Create medical protocols in collaboration with the Medical Director
    • Manage both acute and chronic illnesses
    • Respond to and care for medical emergencies
    • Maintain working knowledge of pharmacology including drug interactions, reactions, and detox
    • Ensure clients are referred to specialists when warranted if the medical needs of the client cannot be met at the facility
    • Order any medical or laboratory tests as deemed necessary
    • Review and sign off on all medical and laboratory reports and follow up as needed
    • Refer clients for emergency care when necessary including initiating involuntary commitment documentation
    • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of records
    • Provide supervision to RN’s and LPN’s as needed
    • Be available for on call consultation for all staff including admissions
    • Cover after hours as needed or as part of a rotation
    • Follow all policies and procedures of the organization
    • Maintain professionalism both in conduct and in dress attire at all times
    • Adhere to all confidentiality and HIPPA requirements as per policy
    • Maintain the upmost ethical behavior with colleagues and clients to ensure the highest level of integrity in all work performed

    Qualifications

    Education: Master’s Degree in Nursing with a specialty in Adult Nursing or Family.

    Master’s Degree from a Physician’s Assistant Program

     

    Experience:   Previous experience in a substance abuse and psychiatric treatment

     setting preferred but not required.

     

    License and/or Certifications:   Unrestricted license from the Florida Board of Nursing

    ARNP - Board Certified in as an Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner

     through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification

     Program (AANP) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)

    PA - Board Certified through National Commission Certification of

     Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

     

    Registrations:   Drug Enforcement Agency Controlled Substance Registration including

     schedules:  2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, 5.

     

     

    • Proficient in the English language, both in writing and speaking and able to communicate clearly to staff, clients, families, and other healthcare professionals
    • Experience and skills in the use of electronic medical records (EMR)
    • Ability to be supervised by a physician
    • Ability to work under stressful conditions
    • Ability to work as part of a team
    • Possess compassion and empathy
    • Maintain all licenses and certifications as required of the position

    Schedule will be:M-F at least 1/2 a day, preferably 8-12 or 9-1 pm. Some weekend coverage too, 8-2 pm.
