  • Overview

    The Clinical Director is responsible for providing oversight and leadership for all behavioral health functions within a substance abuse facility that provides inpatient services. The Clinical Director, leads the clinical team by providing individual and group supervision and case consultation to a team of counselors and therapists, group facilitators, case managers and quality assurance personnel. The Clinical Director is responsible for ensuring quality and ethical services by following state standards and accreditation board criteria. The Clinical Director is expected to support the clinical team with completing assessments and other clinical documents, as warranted by the needs of the facility and provide a variety of client care services as assigned by the Executive Director.



    • Assists with the delivery of the overall clinical program and its activities in accordance with the mission and goals of the organization
    • Provides overall supervision of the clinical team, including individual and group supervision
    • Creates and provides behavioral health trainings to promote continued staff development
    • Ensures that clinical and ethical standards are met and comply with relevant legislation and professional standards
    • Ensures that the clinical team and program activities operate within the policies and procedures of the organization
    • Liaises with Leadership to ensure effective and efficient clinical delivery
    • Provides orientation and training to new members of the clinical team
    • Assists with ACA (Against Clinical Advice) blocking and client management
    • Liaises with the on-site multi-disciplinary team, as well as the Utilization Review Team, Business Development and other departments
    • Completes assessments and leads groups in support of programming needs
    • Facilitates daily staff meetings and case staffing with the multidisciplinary team
    • Leads weekly clinical department meetings as pertinent to facility goals
    • Provides quality assurance and chart review for standards and time-line compliance
    • Responsible for tracking outcome measures for performance improvement activities
    • Analyzes program performance
    • Participates in performance improvement plans and employee disciplinary action as warranted
    • Assists with the creation of Policies and Procedures

    Computer Equipment and Software Requirements:

    • Word, Excel, Google Docs/Chrome and KIPU EMR

    Educational Background and experience:

    • Master level licensed professional, possessing an LCSW, LMHC, LMFT or other license within the field of behavioral health.
    • Licensed professional with a CAP, MCAP or other related certification preferred
    • Must have previous experience as a Clinical Director in Addiction Treatment
