    General Description of the Position:

    The Quality Improvement Specialist (QI Specialist) will report directly to the Quality Improvement Manager (QI Manager) and be an integral member of the Quality Improvement Department.  The QI Specialist will be responsible for carrying out the day to day operations of the Quality Improvement Program at both the corporate office and at individual treatment centers. The QI Specialist will work closely with treatment center(s) to assist staff in achieving and maintaining optimal quality services and in carrying out the QI Program. The QI Specialist will also be expected to travel to various treatment centers in the course of their duties to attend meetings, gather data, provide education and training, and assist staff in carrying out the QI Program.

     

    Purpose of the Position:

    The QI Specialist will work closely with staff at various treatment center(s) to implement the Quality Improvement Program (QI Program), as well as, provide education and guidance to staff on the QI Program.

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities:

    • To implement the QI Program at various treatment centers.
    • To conduct Quality Control Audits in areas pertaining to the QI Program and report findings to the QI Manager on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
    • To provide training to staff in areas identified as needing further education to ensure compliance with the QI Plan for the QI Program.
    • To facilitate and chair monthly Quality Improvement Meetings, including maintaining minutes at various treatment centers.
    • To assist managers and department heads developing, monitoring, and reporting on performance improvement projects.
    • To conduct weekly chart audits to ensure staff are meeting required expectations regarding timeliness of documentation and completeness of documentation.
    • To provide support and be available for any surveys and/or audits at that may arise at the treatment center(s).
    • To maintain documentation and generate monthly, quarterly, and annual reports related to the QI Program Indicators (e.g. Incident Reports, Client Grievances, Pre and Post Measures, Client Surveys, Staff Surveys, ACA’s, Contraband Findings, High Risk Clients etc.), Environment of Care Rounds, Safety Inspections, and any other data collection related to the QI Program.
    • To oversee and maintain records from monthly Environment of Care rounds.
    • To provide education and oversight when needed for issues related to HIPAA, 42 CFR, Part 2, and HITECH.
    • To assist in overseeing organization wide Policy and Procedure Manual to ensure it is always up-to-date.
    • Oversee and implement a Safety Program at each treatment center(s) including conducting monthly Safety Inspections.
    • Assist the treatment center management staff with conducting routine disaster drills, fire drills, and annual hazard vulnerability assessment.
    • To provide monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to the QI Manager that contain quantitative and qualitative analysis of the areas being monitored as defined in the QI Plan, as well as, any other performance improvement projects being carried out.

     

    Qualifications

    Qualifications and Education:

    • Education and experience in the area of Quality Improvement.
    • A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in Quality Improvement.
    • Minimum of one to three years of experience in the area of Substance Use and/or Mental Health.

    Skills:

    • Knowledge of Regulatory Compliance, such as Joint Commission Standards and ability to be Joint Commission Ready, HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA etc.
    • Knowledge of State Regulations related to Substance Use and Mental Health Treatment.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as a member of a team.
    • Strong analytical skills in data collection, analysis, and presentation.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to perform this job successfully.
    • A person who works well with others and as part of a team.
